American Montessori Society (AMS) Certification PapersNovember 11, 2008 by Miss Norma | 7 comments

Hurray! I finally got my certification. Everything has been approved and I am officially a certified primary Montessori teacher. I am certified by the American Montessori Society (AMS). It feels great to be able to say I am finished with my training. It was hard and intensive work, but it is all over now. Now it is time to put it into practice and enjoy doing it. I am certified as of September. I am considering undergoing more training for a different level, but that is a while away.

I cannot believe it is over. I thought that this day would never get here with all the papers and materials I had to write and put together. It was such hard work! Now I have to work on my next big milestone, which is to become a successful and effective teacher.

My certificate was all I needed to become an legitimate Montessori teacher.

Maya I looked at the AMI website but not closely. I will be looking at it so that I can get more familiar with it. I do have a friend who is AMI certified and I have been looking into getting my next training from them, but that is not going to be for a while.
About the Child Development and psychology papers, sorry I don’t have any. For the Child Development part of my training I wrote a paper comparing a Montessori base article and a traditional base one. I have nothing on Child Psychology, Sorry. But if the Child Development paper can help you let me know.
Take care
Norma

It’s nice of you to share your ideas and insights on this topic.

Montessori certification is an excellent investment for those pursuing teaching careers. Whether a person is interested in teaching preschool, high school, or even at the university level, the central principles of the Montessori approach are bound to be of use. Training programs provide hands-on skills in addition to theoretical knowledge in an effort to promote competence and effectiveness in the classroom.

Please be careful because if your training is not MACTE affiliated you may have difficulty finding (or in my case keeping) your Montessori position. My training was online. Since it is not MACTE affiliated, the state is refusing to put it on my teaching certificate, so I may be out of a job in August.

  • i love montessori

    • This blog is about me as a Montessori mom, believer and follower. I want to inspire others to believe in what I experience everyday in my classroom, children learning in a peaceful and happy environment. Children learning at their own pace, helping and guiding each other.

I started this blog because I want to share my views and experiences as a mom and a devoted Montessori teacher. I recently finished the primary certification with American Montessori Society (AMS). I really enjoyed this experience even though at times it seems as if I was never going to finish. It was lot of work and up and downs for me. I am extremely happy I did it
