At a New SchoolSeptember 19, 2009 by Miss Norma | 2 comments

Hello,

It has been a while since I had a chance to update my status. Been through some rough times but it’s a lot better now.  Now I am working at a charter Montessori school.  I really like it there, it’s different but workable.  I am working with a 6-9 year classroom so its truly exciting and different since I’ve only worked with this age group for a little while.  I do plan on going for my 6-9 year training.  A lot of the materials are same as the 3-6, but they are used at a higher level.  If anyone has any tips on how to work with the 6-9 classroom I would love to hear from you.  I have albums that I am looking through but it’s always insightful to here from first hand experience.

Sorry to those of you that I have not responded too, it is on my  to-do list, so you will be hearing from me soon.

How are things going with the charter school? I find it difficult for schools to fully follow the Montessori philosophy when they have to deal with the strict regulations of the states! I am also located in Florida. Let me say, down here, it’s a whole other world!

Hello Montesecrets,
It is a lot of work. It is hard to follow the Montessori philosophy in a charter school, but the school I’m at is pretty much following it. It is really hard to do both the public school and Montessori curriculum because the public school curriculum are one grade focus.

thank you for your comment,
norma

  • i love montessori

    • This blog is about me as a Montessori mom, believer and follower. I want to inspire others to believe in what I experience everyday in my classroom, children learning in a peaceful and happy environment. Children learning at their own pace, helping and guiding each other.

I started this blog because I want to share my views and experiences as a mom and a devoted Montessori teacher. I recently finished the primary certification with American Montessori Society (AMS). I really enjoyed this experience even though at times it seems as if I was never going to finish. It was lot of work and up and downs for me. I am extremely happy I did it
