Happy New YearJanuary 21, 2009 by Miss Norma | 4 comments

Hello and Happy New Year,
It has been a good start to the New Year. I am planning on writing more often, keeping you updated with my classroom experiences. My classroom has been going smoothly and the children are happy to be back in school. This weekend I brought home my Language and Math albums. The children are moving along quickly and I have a few in depth lessons to give so I wanted to study them so that I can feel comfortable giving them to the children. I also noticed that quite a few of the children need a lot of fine motor skills and pencil grip practice. So I also need go back to the basic Practical Life and Sensorial.
Now, I need to do my planning for next week so I will leave it here for now.

Actually I had to do this “observation” about a child for my child development module. I too observed the child I chose having Fine motor skills underdeveloped. He is also well developed in Gross. Can that be a reason? I think I saw something like that in my text book!!! There are loads of other activities to improve fine motor skills. I was surfin the web and found some sites. Maybe you should create new exciting activities too!
Good luck with proximodistal challenge Norma!

Love your blog.. This is my top site of useful sharing about Montessori class. I am a Montessori follower as a mother of two years old boy. I love your job about sea creatures. Too early for us to do this with such complex creatures but maybe can be done with easier animals such as dog, cat, bird etc.
I wrote to say, carry on writing :) There are few comments but this is really a usefull site.

    • This blog is about me as a Montessori mom, believer and follower. I want to inspire others to believe in what I experience everyday in my classroom, children learning in a peaceful and happy environment. Children learning at their own pace, helping and guiding each other.

I started this blog because I want to share my views and experiences as a mom and a devoted Montessori teacher. I recently finished the primary certification with American Montessori Society (AMS). I really enjoyed this experience even though at times it seems as if I was never going to finish. It was lot of work and up and downs for me. I am extremely happy I did it
