Why I Love MontessoriJune 13, 2008 by Miss Norma | No comments

I love Montessori because I see so much more in the children. I worked in a public school as a substitute and I enjoyed doing that but I felt like I could see or help the children get what they wanted. I substituted for a middle school for the same six grade class for about four months and the children had no interest in being in the classroom. I try talking to them about what would make them feel happy to be in school and they would not speak. This made me feel like they did not trust me or the school to give them what they wanted. This made me feel like I did not belong there.

Since I worked at the Montessori school I am in I have not felt like I do not belong there. The children are so welcoming and happy to be in school that you feel part of the environment right away. I say this because this year I got my Primary Montessori Certification for ages 3 to 6 and I visited a lot of schools and the children all were happy and involved in their work. Also, in the school I work in I did substituting for teachers when they were out and the children were always respectful and made me feel as if I always was their teacher.

I Love being a Montessori teacher because I have the opportunity to get to know my students and their families. I get a satisfaction, I feel as if I could change lives and children. Being a Montessori teacher is being part of a family that believes and trusts you. The children can open your eyes to different things daily. This makes me feel rejuvenated. I have something new to look up to.

Loving being part of what you do for a living is a big step to being successful and happy.

    • This blog is about me as a Montessori mom, believer and follower. I want to inspire others to believe in what I experience everyday in my classroom, children learning in a peaceful and happy environment. Children learning at their own pace, helping and guiding each other.

I started this blog because I want to share my views and experiences as a mom and a devoted Montessori teacher. I recently finished the primary certification with American Montessori Society (AMS). I really enjoyed this experience even though at times it seems as if I was never going to finish. It was lot of work and up and downs for me. I am extremely happy I did it
